![]() On the right is An Linnean, another self-catering house belonging to Lucy, is situated at the top end of the foaling field; it is accessed by the same driveway as Ellister House and it sleeps eight. Link to An Linnean website: www.anlinnean.co.uk Change-over day is a Friday. An Linnean is graded as five star self-catering and has a Hot Tub ! For eating out, there is a small pub in Portnahaven which does meals, or a hotel in Port Charlotte which does both restaurant and dining room meals. Both villages have nice sandy beaches and there are plenty of others within easy reach. ![]() On the right is Portnahaven bay, with part of the island of Orsay showing at top left and part of MacKenzie Island at top right. Lagmore house is the nearest house to MacKenzie Island; further beyond - a long way across the Atlantic - is Newfoundland. The storms have plenty of space to gather strength before they hit Lagmore House ! The lighthouse on Orsay Island can be seen from Lagmore - it is where Gilbert worked as one of the lighthouse keepers. ![]() |
Easter Ellister House is the old farm house of the Estate which now belongs to daughter Lucy and is run as a self-catering establishment. It sleeps ten and has a huge sitting room overlooking the foaling field; the house faces the sea. Change-over day is Saturday; there is a nice garden which is secure for well-behaved dogs. Ellister is approximately 3 miles from the village of Portnahaven to the south and 4 miles from Port Charlotte to the north.

On the left is Lagmore House, which is in the village of Portnahaven and belongs to my older daughter Heather MacKenzie. Lagmore sleeps eight and there is a dividing door between the two parts, so that two families can have their own kitchens, sitting rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms. Link to Lagmore House website: www.lagmorehouse.co.uk The change-over day for Lagmore is a Sunday.
