Ellister Islay Webcam

For Broadband users only, please.  SORRY - CAMERA NOT WORKING AT THE MOMENT (18th Feb 2012).

Dial-up connections will slow down our own use of the camera and may prevent us from seeing vital signs of imminent foaling - or other eventuality.

The field camera can only be moved by Gilbert or me, so what you see is where we have chosen to look.  If there is nothing to be seen, we're away from our computers !  When foaling is imminent, we are always watching the camera from first light, and evening time.

WHO IS WHERE, AT THE MOMENT:

Updated 18th February 2012    Our apologies - camera seems to be stuck - will be mended soon, hopefully !

       1.      Yearling geldings Harvester and Woodsman, along with Aunty Spider, Smoke and Juniper are now in Louira.

        2.     Breeze and Forester are in the Back of Beyond where there's a good bit of grass and hay on the hoof.

        3.    Fiona, Solo and Ceilidh are in the Lake circuit, with Tamara and Bracken.

        4.    Holly, Chanter, Rain, Merry and Whisper have the Rattle/Cari circuit.

        5.    Ballinton Lady, Coulmore Pearl and Tiegan are now getting a bit of hay and hard feed down in Torran, as Pearl is looking her age.

        6.    Willow and her colt Royal Fleet, Kim and her colt Skydance have been moved to Horse field, Grannies and the New Forest, so that the yearlings can be handled ready for being gelded.  The foals haven't yet been weaned as the mares are still looking OK and are not in foal again.

       7.    Angus Mor, Mariner and Sea Lord are in the foaling field paddocks, and now have all the paddocks along with Tup Paddock and the Forest Garden - as well as Duiskies - so they are a well travelled little group.  They are coming into the byre for handling and are doing very well.

This photo shows the roof of Gilbert's cottage with the webcamera mounted on the chimney.  The field in the background is called Rattle (because livestock rattles around in it, it's so big - and it used to grow a lot of Yellow Rattle before it had enough horsemuck to get it back to a lovely mix of flowers, herbs and sedges.

To the right of the main pond of the old waterfowl collection is Fat Paddock which is part of the foaling fields.
